The Ohio Center of Excellence in Knowledge-enabled Computing (Kno.e.sis) was announced by the Governor of Ohio and the Chancellor of the Board of Regents in January 2010. Dr. David Hopkins, President of Wright State University hosted an inauguration. Ohio Centers of Excellence are nationally recognized academic programs that generate world-class research and help draw talent and investment to the state.

Overview of the Center of Excellence in Knowledge-enabled Computing
Amit Sheth, LexisNexis Ohio Eminent Scholar and Professor of Computer Science & Engineering, is the Center's Director. The Center consists of 15 faculty from four of WSU colleges that have been collaborating on funded research through support from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as well as many multinational corporations. This is the second, multidisciplinary phase of Kno.e.sis that was founded by Prof. Sheth when he moved from UGA with ten of his PhD students in January 2007.

Kno.e.sis was inaugurated by the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, Eric Fingerhut, at the event hosted by Dr. Hopkins, President of the Wright State University. Around 120 people from industry, academia and Wright State University attended the inauguration.
