Abstract:
As Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) become pervasive in business and scientific environments, Web service based processes or Web processes have emerged as the preferred approach for integrating various applications and sharing of data. METEOR-S is a comprehensive framework for dynamic configuration and adaptation of Web processes. Based on a semantic framework that uses ontologies and semantic descriptions of Web services, the METEOR-S framework addresses a plethora of issues in the context of semantic Web services pertaining to their description, integration, execution and adaptation. Chief among the contributions is SAWSDL (Semantic Annotation for WSDL), a mechanism for adding semantic metadata to WSDL and a W3C candidate recommendation. In this paper, we present a brief discussion on the various contributions of METEOR-S including SAWSDL, publication and discovery of semantic Web services, data mediation, dynamic configuration and adaptation of Web processes. We also outline the direction of our future research in the areas of RESTful services and mashups.
