Experience

Graduate Research Assistant (May 2013 - Present)
Wright State University (Kno.e.sis Center)

At Kno.e.sis, I'm working on building the scalable real time system for processing sensor data and informal text such as tweets to extract city related events. And I also working on integrating the various city related events from different resources with different formats for better city management.
Technology Stack  :  Apache Spark, MongoDB, Java, Python, PHP, MySQL.

Data Researcher (Feb 2015 - May 2015)
Insight Centre for Data Analytics

Provided project support for RTÉ News 360, a project to assist RTÉ journalists in sourcing, aggregating, filtering and contextualizing newsworthy content with particular focus on user generated content. Successfully processed around 66 million tweets. Worked on “Real Time” News Events Detection Pipeline to process tweets from twitter streaming API and identify, store news events in database.
Technology Stack  :  Apache Spark, MongoDB, Python, Java.

Teaching Assistant (Aug 2014 - Dec 2014)
Wright State University

Taught cloud computing concepts and guided students to successfully finish their project work in Hadoop along with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment.
Technology Stack  :   Hadoop (MapReduce), Java, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Projects

#1: Twitris
  • Twitris is a real-time, scalable platform for analyses of social data streams and provides you with deep insights and actionable information for better decision-making.
#2: Depression
  • This project will applies Big Data techniques and methods for identifying combinations of online socio-behavioral factors and neighborhood environmental conditions that can enable detection of depressive behavior in communities and study access and utilization of health care services.
#3: RTÉ News 360
  • Provided project support for RTÉ News 360, a project to assist RTÉ journalists in sourcing, aggregating, filtering and contextualizing newsworthy content with particular focus on user generated content. Successfully processed around 66 million tweets. Worked on “Real Time” News Events Detection Pipeline to process tweets from twitter streaming API and identify, store news events in database.
#4: Smart Cities
  • Traffic management is a challenging issue in most of the major cities around the world. With the increasing number of people moving to cities for economic opportunities, this trend is going to make city resource management a crucial problem. We take this important problem and study its characteristics for creating solutions toward a grand vision of providing actionable information to city policy makers.
#5: kHealth
  • kHealth is a knowledge-enabled semantic platform to enhance decision making and improve health, fitness, and well-being. It supports contextual (e.g., condition specific) annotation, integration, and interpretation of sensor and mobile data from individuals using deep domain-specific (e.g., disease) knowledge base.
