My thesis work is on developing a Question Answering (QA) system using real-time social media. The objective is to provide a social media analytics platform to get latest information on health related queries/questions. This project supports predefined and dynamic interpretation of natural language health-related queries. Once query interpretation is completed then system extract answers from corpus (real time and voluminous) is very challenging, for that we used many data mining and information retrieval techniques for extracting answers, and Hadoop and Apache Storm for handling data.
Projects at Kno.e.sis
I have been involved in three projects at the Kno.e.sis Center. During working on projects at Kno.e.sis, I received many opportunities to work on making scalable systems on an Open stack cloud.


PREDOSE is the acronym for PREscription Drug abuse Online Surveillance and Epidemiology. To determine user knowledge, attitudes and behavior related to the non-medical use of pharmaceutical opioids (namely buprenorphine) as discussed on Web-based forums. In which, I worked on Text Analytics development from unstructured web forum discussions, using IBM BigInsights, SystemT, AQL, and Apache Hadoop


It is a Semantic Web application that facilitates understanding of social perceptions by Semantics-based processing of massive amounts of event-centric data based on Twiter. My Work: I worked on various modules are as follows:
1) Storm pipeline: Worked on implementation of various analysis on real time tweets using Storm technology and MongoDB.
2) Integration of Continuous Semantic in Map-Reduce paradigm and deployed in Hadoop environment.
3) Top URL extraction: Worked on algorithm to find out the top URL articles from tweet for a particular time. Saving all the information in RDF (Virtuso) and fetching query using SPARQL.
5) Facebook crawler: Worked on crawling data to perform analysis on facebook data and finding out the difference between both outcome.
6) Worked on India election event to perform various type of analysis on processed data to give various type statistics in the form of questions and answers. We are storing data in RDF and fetching data using SPARQL.

Material Science

In Material Science project, in which I worked on design and implementation of a centralized web application for integrating various material science resources, using the J2EE Framework.


I have a total of 4.2 years of industrial experience that primarily involve Core Java, J2EE framework, Java web service and ADF (Application development framework). I also worked as a Software Engineer for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and received an opportunity to work onsite with one of TCS’s client in Sydney, Australia. This opportunity helped me to learn coordination skills and also helped me engage with the client directly on requirements gathering. Additionally, I worked for Oracle Financial Services Software Limited (OFSS) for 7 months.

  • Designed and developed a Finite Element (FE) simulation application (Sifem) using Java Server Faces (JSF), which aims to improve reproducibility and automation of FE simulations, using RDF (Resource development framework), OWL for knowledge representation.
